Keep a list. Tell me who you are interested in, and we’ll go back and forth on whether they are a fit for the Yanks or not. More free agent filings today. From Pete Abraham.
You may recall that I advocated Hendrickson for lefty relief. He wanted to start and wouldn’t listen to me last year, so he went to FLA to start and it turns out he SHOULD have read my blog! … his splits say relief. So what happens this year. 6.24 as a starter, 3.03 in relief. For his career, 5.27 as a starter, 3.39 in relief. Don’t believe me? Look it up. Hey Hendrickson, when are you going to swallow your pride and be what you should be? A lefty reliever for someone. Now with Coke and Marte, the Yanks may be set for lefty relief. It depends on what they do with Marte. As for others on this list, a no to Smoltz and Pedro. Also to Colon and Schilling (not that 38pitches.com would want to come to the Bronx, anyway). Look at the list. Frankly, I can’t see much in those who filed today, can you? I’d pass on just about all of them. Your thoughts?
With the hot stove league, there may be more postings than usual from me. Hey, that’s what this blog is for. From now through the end of February, there may be lots of discussion. Trades, FA signings, the Awards voting (CYA, MVP, HOF)….we will stoke fires.
Meanwhile, Pete Abraham reports that Hank has opened his mouth again. Please. No Manny. I gave out Halloween candy tonight. If any kid showed up as Manny, I may have refused him. Like I said, one righty hitting prima donna drama queen (A-Rod with Madonna) is enough. Two is too much.
Hmm… Kerry Wood for closer or set-up????
A nice touch. I heard where the Celtic championship rings for the 2008 Championship have Red Auerbach’s signature on the inside of the ring. Sweet.
