Game 84. Guess who is asked to be the stopper again?

…and we thought the transition would be gradual. Joba is once again asked to be a stopper when he faces Texas tonight.

I wonder if Gardner will get the start in CF. Melky is down to .244.

Yanks at 44-39. Things could be worse. Look at Cleveland, Seattle, the Mets, Rockies, heck, Joe Torre’s Dodgers aren’t lighting it up.

But the Red Sox and Rays are coming. It’s time to beat them and make a move.

This team doesn’t have enough to beat either team. They don’t have the consistant offense or Pitching to beat them you have Rasner and Ponson, who could give you six or be out by the time the crowd finishes roll call. It’s almost time to make some moves. As everyone saw Kennedy and Hughes getting their asses handed to them every time they took the field. Prospects are a crap shoot, waiting for five years for players is Kansas City thinking. you can’t play them all so use them to get young proven talent.

It’s where your scouting comes in. There are a lot of interesting pitchers who teams could be interested in in the minors. The key is knowing who to keep and who to let go. It’s where a GM earns his keep. Some pitchers may be used to bring something back. It’s Cashman’s trump card, since he won’t be able to deal high-salaried players on the current roster without eating a lot of salary. I’d love to see less $$ spent on players and more poured into scouting and player development.

It’ll be interesting to see who he keeps and who he doesn’t (and of course, injuries and performance will winnow out the wheat and the chaff too).
