Recap: Andy Pettitte escaped a jam and the Yanks scored 3 runs after a 56-minute rain delay to beat the Reds for the first time in Yankee Stadium since Ford’s shutout in Game 1 of the 1961 W.S. The Yanks stop the two-game losing streak with a 4-1 victory. Jason Giambi went 3 for 3 and drove in 2 runs with a double. Jorge Posada doubled twice and drove in a run. Both of Jorge’s doubles were key in both Yankee rallies. Edwar Ramirez pitched a 1-2-3 7th. In the 8th, Farnsworth(less) gave up Griffey’s 601st, and Junior got a well-deserved ovation from the crowd, who realize that he is most likely coming to the end of a career that will make him a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer. Farnsworth(less) then tried to barehand a comebacker and had to be removed from the game. Mo got the last four outs for the save.

Yours truly will be at the Stadium for this game. His last trip to the old ballyard before the move across the street is made. The weather forecast isn’t good, and there is a chance of a rain delay or rainout.

If there is a game, I’ll be taking a good, long look at the ballpark since it will be the last time I see it. It’ll be kind of like kissing a girlfriend goodbye as you are breaking up for good. You know it’s for the best for both of you, but your heart is breaking nonetheless.

Feel free to comment. After two consecutive losses, I’ll try to bring back a “W.”

The matchup? RHP Johnny Cueto (5-7, 5.19) vs. LHP Andy Pettitte (7-5, 4.29).

After that, the Yanks head to Pittsburgh for the first time since Ralph Terry served up Bill Mazeroski’s HR on October 13, 1960.

I’ll see what I can come up with later. Long day…esp. with the rain delay.
