Late August…at the earliest…for Wang

Pete Abraham has the details. Expect Wang back in late August….at the EARLIEST…this year, if at all.

IF the Yanks make the playoffs, late August means 5 or 6 MLB starts after rehab.

Until then…Dan Giese is probably the short-term solution until Kennedy is ready, and I’d say a month until Kennedy IS ready…unless a deal is made.

But with teams knowing the Yanks are in trouble, guess who has the upper hand?

In Trenton news, Kevin Russo may be done for the year.

In Scranton news, Chad Jennings guesses on Wang’s replacement and mentions an injury to Bernie Castro.

Abraham makes a good point (which is why I think Giese gets the starts):

The Yankees have eight days off between now and July 24. They will need a No. 5 starter on only four occasions. That gives Cashman roughly six weeks to make a trade.

Four starts? You can weather that. That assumes Pettitte, Mussina, Chamberlain and Rasner do their parts.

If no trade (and I think there will be one) Kennedy could be back by July 24th. If there is no trade and it’s Ian, he better matrue fast and become the pitcher we thought he was going to be.

I said earlier that I hate Interleague and hate the fact the AL pitchers must hit in NL parks for 9 games while not doing it for 153. I also mentioned how EVERY OTHER LEAGUE IN THE WORLD USES THE DH. Now you see why I hate it.
