From Pete Abraham: (notes by me in italics)

YANKEES (The A Lineup, hmm, no Matsui…enjoying the honeymoon?; also, Andrew Miller going, a lefty)

Damon LF
Jeter SS
Abreu RF
Rodriguez 3B
Giambi 1B
Posada C
Cano 2B
Duncan DH
Cabrera CF

Pitching
Mussina

Pregame notes: Pettitte threw a bullpen and feels great. He’ll start a minor league intrasquad on Sunday. RHP Jeff Karstens (right groin) will be out at least a month.

I mentioned the 2003 WS in a previous post. Who was the last Yankee pitcher to win a WS game? Mussina, Game 3, 2003 WS at Florida. Of course tomorrow’s pitcher, Phil Hughes, is the last Yankee pitcher to win a postseason game.

Once again, from Pete:

The Opening Series: (With records from last season); A lot of you are from all over and like me don’t get YES, so I just list ESPN or other national coverage.

Monday: RHP Roy Halladay (16-7, 3.71) vs. RHP Chien-Ming Wang (19-7, 3.70), 1:05, ESPN

Wednesday: RHP A.J. Burnett (10-8, 3.75) vs. RHP Mike Mussina (11-10, 5.15), 7:05, ESPN2

Thursday: RHP Dustin McGowan (12-10, 4.08) vs. RHP Phil Hughes (5-3, 4.46), 7:05

Best wishes to Doug Davis of Arizona, diagnosed with thyroid cancer which will require surgery. Get well soon.
