Always interesting, the first live batting practice of spring training. Sometimes for the batters, it isn’t fun.

The pitchers are still trying to find their control and a few of their pitches may unintentionally come too far inside. Ouch. Armor alert.

Then there are the callouses that need to be formed, hands to toughen up.

Not to mention some of those inside fastballs off the fists, especially if the weather is cooler than expected.

I see that ex-NFL (New England) player Mosi Tatupu has passed away. 

Update: The pitchers do announce to the batter the pitch and location, but you can guess that location isn’t fine-tuned this early.
