Just to remind Pedro that he
is now in Daddy’s home,
we turn back to 1961 and
Shep and the Limelites….
and we know 1961 was a
VERY good year for the
Yankees!

So, which sleeping giant awakens first?

Teixeria?

Cano?

Swisher?

or Ryan Howard?
More discussion today of the Yanks and going to the three man. I have to ask….Gaudin has only pitched what, one inning in the last month? Do you really trust him to start now? Or do you really want to go back to a downsized Joba?
Joba’s mom faces 20 years…as her May drug selling bust is reaching its conclusion.
Now that the Series is out of Philly….Philly now has a transit strike.
I heard criticism today of AJ going on 3 days rest in Game 5, and also criticism of Andy and CC going on 3 days rest in Games 6 and 7. But put it this way….. you have two lefties starting at Yankee Stadium in the last two games by setting it up this way. Isn’t that the way you want it? After all, Yankee Stadium has always favored lefty arms and lefty bats. Granted it is not 457 to LCF anymore, but lefty arms at the Stadium. Be it Gomez, Pennock, Lopat, Ford, Guidry, or Pettitte. You have Pettitte and CC set up now that AJ went in 5. Granted Andy and CC on three days rest, but lefty starters.
Who would be your RF tomorrow?
Eric Hinske 1 PA in the postseason. A walk. 8 for 30 against Pedro in his career. .270-1-7 but 10 K in that 30 AB.
Jerry Hairston. 10 for 27. 2 doubles, a triple. 0 HR, 0 RBI. .370-0-0. 2 for 6 this postseason.
Nick Swisher. 6 for 44 this postseason. .140. 0 for 2 vs. Pedro in his career.
I don’t know, but I would not be surprised to see HInske. Numbers not great but not bad. A mistake to Hairston…probably a single, but a mistake to the lefty-swinging HInske could be a HR.

Mike:
I know I’m showing my age as I will officially be a senior citizen on 12/21/09 (55);however, when I was in eighth grade, we used to sit in my buddy’s basement and listen to 45’s–and one of them was Daddy’s Home by Shep and the Limelights.
Also, my parents, sister and I used to watch Danny Thomas star in Make Room for Daddy. In fact, Jean Hagen played his first TV wife, but Marjorie Lord was the second one. The kids were played by actors Rusty Hamer and Angela Cartright.
By the way, you’re right about having two lefties lined up against the Phillies for Games #6 and #7–which should keep Howard in check although Larry Bowa made a good point on 97.5 FM yesterday when he told a caller not to pitch around Utley to get to Howard and possibly wake up a sleeping giant–we spoke about the Angels pitching around Jeter twice with Saunders on the mound for LA–the first time it worked, but the second time Damon took off on his current hot streak.
Good luck.

Just saw on the Phillies website an article on the 1979 Pirates winning the last two on the road in Baltimore, which broke my heart at the time since my sister went to college and lived in Maryland from 1970-1979.

Yeah, Joe….and if you saw the front page of the MC this morning, you would see that they screwed up in that list…
