Andy went 7 and the Yanks won their 7th straight in Game #77, 4-2 over Seattle.
All the runs via the HR. You wonder in the New Stadium if it is a good thing (you would like to create runs and not yield to the siren song of the ballpark) but you know what they say about looking a gift horse in the mouth.
Andy’s 223rd win, tying Harder and Derringer on the all-time list.
For the Yanks, three HR, #15 for Damon (and, as Pete Abe says, #11 at home), #8 for Melky (I believe #7 at home) and #13 (and #566*) for A-Rod. A-Rod’s broke a 2-2 tie and was the game winner. I believe most of A-Rod’s are at home as well. No surprise if the case, right?
Aceves for one out in the 8th, Coke for two, then Rivera for save #502.
For Seattle, Junior hit #621. He went into the game hitting just .213. His 10th of the year, but you do hope he ends his career where he began and that this is his swan song.
BTW, I was watching some of the Braves vs. the Phils the past couple of nights. Check out Chipper Jones (417 career HR). His left leg looks bandaged like Mantle’s legs were. The other night he swung at a pitch and his leg buckled, just like Mickey’s leg would buckle under him. It brought back (sad) memories of the fading Mantle.
