Game 66. Make that night game…maybe? So much for getaway “day”…

I hate interleague. I hate the fact that for the next 9 games after this one (if they get it in) that Yankees pitchers have to hit (although seeing CC hit—he isn’t bad and loves to hit—wouldn’t be a bad thing to see).

However Wang is scheduled to start again…in Atlanta on Tuesday. After last year, do you think there will be special “Wang” rules for baserunning pitchers?

Another reason to hate interleague is because of what is going on today. In regular league action, you call a rain out (if possible) and schedule a DH or take away an off day in the future. The odds are that the team is coming back in later in the year. At least before interleague, you could basically count on it, especially if you are raining out in June.

Now with interleague there are less games against teams in your own league and less chance of them coming back. An interleague opponent? Forget it, and so it is that the Yanks hope to start today’s game at 6:30 p.m., almost five and a half hours after it was supposed to start.

If you are a fan with a ticket to the game and got there at noon for the 1:05 start, you are basically screwed. You have to wait all day. A LONG day. Unlike the players, you aren’t getting paid to stick around and if you want to eat or drink during that long waiting period, you most likely are paying ballpark fare. Fun.

Here is an interesting contest. From an e-mail I received today (bold emphasis mine):

Hello my name is Jon and I work with Celebrities For Charity.  Part of our campaign is to manage the site www.netraffle.com .  The site is an online raffle site which allows fans to purchase raffle tickets for unique sport related prizes.  Currently we are raffling off Two Legends Suite Tickets to the August 8, 2009 game against the Red Sox at Yankee Stadium.  The prize also includes hotel accommodations to the Marriott Marquis Times Square in NYC, a $250 travel voucher as well as a cash prize to mitigate taxes as a result of winning the raffle.  Raffle tickets are only $2 a pop with a minimum purchase of five tickets.  The proceeds go to charity and help a good cause.

The link for the raffle is https://www.celebritiesforcharity.org/raffles/rosie_yankees.cfm and the raffle deadline is Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at 11:00am EDT.

Good luck to you if you enter.

Mel Hall got 45 years for that case I told you about in a post yesterday. 22 1/2 until parole-eligible.
