Game 21. Yanks @ Tigers. Will youth be served again?

April 29th, 2009 at 5:34 pm · No Comments

From Pete Abraham, the lineup. Last night Hughes, tonight Joba. Will youth be served again?

YANKEES (10-10)
Jeter SS
Damon LF
Teixeira 1B (as Abraham notes, slumping)
Matsui DH
Cano 2B
Posada C
Swisher RF
Cabrera CF (still producing and the road runner takes a seat again)
Pena 3B (the kid getting the chance. They need the D more than Berroa’s bat).

Pitching: RHP Joba Chamberlain (0-0, 3.94).

Abraham provides an important update on Ian Kennedy. Good thing it isn’t a circulatory issue:

Ian Kennedy was examined by a specialist in NYC today because of his numb middle finger.

He has a vasospasm that can be treated with medication. He will be evaluated again Monday and will not throw until after that follow-up.

Based on a Google search, it doesn’t seem serious.

Also, reports are that A-Rod is looking great in his rehab. It looks like minor league games will be coming very shortly (all in/for Tampa) and that he may be back before the 5/15 date.

Good stat in the Post: before last night’s explosion, the Yanks were at .223 with RISP.
