Slow baseball news …. so far

MLBTR states that the Phils could have interest in Ty Wigginton. Although Utley thinks he’ll be ready for Opening Day, the Phils have to cover themselves not only for Utley, but also for the problems Pedro Feliz has been having. I would assume that if the Phils land Wigginton, that their interest in Nomar would then go by the boards. MLBTR also says that the Phils may have interest in Aurilia.

Sean Casey has retired. He leaves the majors with a .302 career batting average and a nice 109 OPS+. Not a HOF career, but a very good one regardless. 1500+ hits and a 3x all-star. Cle-Cincy-Pit-Det-Boston. Two WS HR for the Tigers in 2006. In 12 postseason games, he hit .410. He hit .529 for the losing Tigers in that 2006 World Series…30 years after Thurman Munson hit .529 for the losing Yankees in the 1976 WS.

Are you amazed as I am at how many players (Glavine, Dunn, Hudson) MLBTR has linked to the Nationals?
