Colon to White Sox

January 15th, 2009 at 9:40 am · No Comments

Bartolo Colon, who won the 2005 CYA but has gone 11-15 since, signed with the White Sox. Colon will turn 36 in May. In 2005, he was 21-8, 3.48, ERA+ 122 for the Angels, but since then has gone 1-5, 5.11 (ERA+ 89) for the Angels in 2006 (10 games), 6-8, 6.34 (72) for the Angels in 2007 (19 g., 18 starts) and 4-2, 3.92 (118) in seven games for Boston in 2008.

MLBTR also reports that Andruw Jones is to be released by the Dodgers today and that Jones showed up at a college basketball game with a Braves hat on his head. Jones one year with the Dodgers, 2008, was a disaster. In 75 games and 209 ABs, he hit .158-3-14, OPS+ 34. The year before, he only hit .222 for the Braves. OPS+ 88. He’ll be 32 in April. MLBTR also says that the Cubs may be moving on Rich Aurilia and the Marlins on Orlando Cabrera.

It’s frigid outside. Baseball can’t arrive soon enough.
