Charles Barkley makes controversial statements again. This time it is over Auburn’s new football coach, Gene Chizik. According to ESPN, Barkley wanted former Nebraska star Turner Gill, now coaching at Buffalo. Gill wasn’t selected, and “The Round Mound of Rebound” sees it as a racial issue. Chizik, who was the defensive coordinator when Auburn (Barkley’s alma mater) was #2 in 2004, was just 5-19 at Iowa State,
Chan Ho (It’s now outta the) Park signed a one-year deal with the Phillies. Park, 35, pitched in 54 games for the Dodgers in 2008, starting five. He was 4-4, 3.40, ERA+ 125. It was his best season since 2001. Park is 117-92 in his career, ERA 4.34 (ERA+ 98).
I have a list I printed off of Yahoo! Sports on 11/10. The list is by Jeff Passan, who at that time ranked 183 free agents from # 1 (CC) to #183. Park was #58. On Park, Passan comments “He once got a $65 million contract. Just saying.”
Jamie Moyer, 46, goes back to the Phils on a two-year deal. The ancient ex-Mariner was 16-7, 3.71 (ERA+ 118) for the Phils in 2008. Despite not getting his career into gear until in his 30s, Moyer has 246 wins for his career. Moyer’s ERA of 4.19 (ERA+ 106), probably hurts whatever HOF chances he has.
Jason Michaels goes to the Astros. Michaels spent 2008 with Cleveland and Pittsburgh and the 32-year-old OF hit .224-8-53, OPS+ 73. Career .271, OPS+ 96.

i thought about saying something but if you’re not one of the lords of the realm over there ( SJ-pompous-44, CB, brandon, GB7, mel, nick SF etc) they all ignore you anyway. i only lurk for entertainment value
