Cubs, probably losing Wood, get replacement

November 14th, 2008 at 6:41 am · No Comments

With Kerry Wood a free agent and most likely gone, the Cubs dealt for his replacement, getting 30 year old righty closer Kevin Gregg from Florida. Gregg was 7-8, 3.41, 29 saves, ERA+ 125 for the Marlins in 2008. So far this offseason, Florida has dealt Gregg, Josh Willingham, Mike Jacobs, and Scott Olsen. Typical Marlins salary dump. Nice to know some things remain constant in life.

For Gregg, the Marlins got Jose Ceda, who will be 22 in January. Ceda was at High A and AA this year, going 4-3, 3.83 with 9 saves (Comb. stats). He is a righty.
